“REAL Double or Nothing at Roulette”

Ashley Revel (32) had sold everything he had including his clothes - and placed all the money on Red on the roulette wheel in Plaza Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, Nevada. Revel became world famous when he sold his house, his car and even his clothes to make a single bet on the roulette table. The British Sky-One broadcast live from the casino in Las Vegas - when Revel placed his $135.300 bet on Red. His mom and dad and some friends were there to support him - even though his parents did not approve of the idea they were there to support him.

The wheel was spun and seconds later the ball came to a rest on Red 7 - and Revel could walk away a winner with $270.600 in his pocket. He gave a $600 tip to the croupier before he left the casino.

The Happy Winner could not stop smiling.

"It all happened so fast" Revel said - "It was over before I knew it".

"It’s Really down to my family and friends and my Mum and Dad". He told the television. "I knew if I lost I would always have a home to go to".

His farther was still against it - even though he won. As he explained: "I got four kids and they are all going to want to go the same way"

When Asked if he wanted to try his luck again Revel said: "No that’s it for me - I think he would like me to do it again, but no that is it" gesturing to the casino host. "I don’t want to ride my luck" Revel said as the champaign started to flow.

The chances of winning at a European roulette wheel is 48.6% - because there are 18 red numbers and 18 black numbers and a single green zero. The American roulette wheel has two green numbers - and thereby a 47.3% chance of winning a bet on a color.

The bet was filmed by Sky One and they are also going to follow Revel around for one month - the program is called "Double or Nothing"

Revel's mother is now begging him to settle down now - but Revel is determent to enter the world series of poker next year - as he has decided to become a professional poker player.

" Women can play Craps Too "

I never thought I’d be able to shoot craps. I had rarely seen women play and the table was always fast and appeared confusing. My husband came up with a good idea. A way to teach me the game at home so I would not be intimidated.

He took a lid from a large cardboard box and drew out the craps table on the inside of it. All the numbers and field areas, the pass line area ....everything. He handed me a pair of dice and gave me stacks of poker chips and told me to shoot the dice. I had no idea what I was doing at first, but Rob told me what to do next and pretty soon I was really enjoying the whole idea of it.

I’d roll the dice and shout out a number, real excited...but not knowing why and then Rob would tell me how to bet. Rob learned a lot about craps by reading books. Rob told me how to bet on the pass line and then roll a number and bet again. He explained what the "odds" meant and how to bet and when to increase my bets. After a while it really started to make sense.

In a few months we took another trip to Las Vegas and stayed at the Stardust. It was time for the fledgling to fly. So, I stepped up to the Craps table and the dice were pushed in front of me. My heart was pounding so hard I thought I’d faint! But everyone was very nice. The dealers and the boxman just smiled and patiently waited as I asked for a $500 marker. I threw the dice and kept rolling the dice for 23 minutes!

A crowd had gathered around the table to watch and high rollers were increasing their bets faster than I could roll the next pass. It was so exciting! I really didn’t bet as well as I could have. It was too fast and I was too excited. Nonetheless, I won almost $1,000 starting with only $5 bets and increasing. I was hooked. This was the biggest rush I had ever experienced. In the past I had played Blackjack and thought it exciting but after Craps, 21 is a slow, dull game.

I continued to play Craps on our trips and got better each time.

“Playing a ’Round’”

One of my favorite things to do. Have a drink, relax, and play dress-up. I know it may be a little old fashioned, but changing your attire can change you. Take advantage of the atmosphere. It’s a nightclub environment. (or at least it can be. Lot’s of casinos now cater to the theme park environment. The family lure is fine. But for me Vegas will always be an adult playground). I love to dress the part. Cocktail dress, jewelry, and painted nails still gets proper laudation from the dealers. Frankly everyone treats you differently when your "dressed". Look the lady and you will be treated as such.

It’s wonderful, reminiscent of childhood dress-up! Arriving at the crap table looking fine, requesting a $500 marker and rolling the dice (red finger nail polish contrasting against the white and black of the dice)...it’s trés sheik!

Playing a "round" can have a very different meaning. When you approach the craps table, look around. Just observe for a few moments. Get a sense of the moods. Are the players enjoying themselves, or are they "working" much too hard. My own observation has been that men in particular "work" too hard at the game. Of course, the basis of this statistic I admit is unfairly weighted since the tables are predominately occupied by males.

Nonetheless, men rarely back-away. They stay and play and often insist that the very next round will be theirs. That luck is bound to change. Don’t let this strategy infect you ladies. Luck is fickle. Don’t be trapped into heavy losses thinking just one more roll will turn the table in your favor. Know when to walk away. When is that? Whenever you sense it. Yes, nothing magical here. When the house is winning repeatedly. When the players seem to be loosing whether they bet "passline" or "don’t come". Get the message. Heed the signs. Take a walk. Go shopping. But get off that table and live to play another day.

My favorite way to "play a round" is too assess the table and decide that I am going to stay for one full round of the table. That means rolling the dice and continuing to play until the dice come full circle back to me to roll again. I enjoy saving my heavier bets to bet on myself. Why not? If I don’t have confidence in myself I shouldn’t be playing at all. With a little luck you can easily play a full round with less than $500 at risk. Yes, $500 seems serious to me. In fact, it is. One does not always win.

Never, and I do mean never go to the table and gamble with money you can’t afford to loose! It won’t be fun and this is not a game for the faint of heart. You have to be able to play and place bets quickly. You can’t do that if your constantly worrying about how much money your losing...
